Starting a More Eco-Friendly Journey

So, as we all know, our Earth is slowly decaying and one day we will all probably be destroyed either by all our wrongdoings or by an asteroid charging right through our Earth's core. Either way, we should all try to do a little something to make our world a slightly better place to live in. I'm pretty sure most of you have started using more eco-friendly alternatives to plastic straws but I have taken up the challenge to do abit more than just that. A lot of women nowadays are switching to reusable panty liners and sanitary pads. Why? Well, sanitary pads and liners create a lot of waste and just imagine, how many we women use every day/month, 365 days a year? It's an insane number. Plus, switching to reusable pads/liners saves you a lot of money each month because all you have to do is wash them.
I just want to share a bit of my experience and thoughts on using reusable liners and hope some of you find it useful if you're planning to make the switch as well. First off, if you're not buying from a physical store, finding these online are really easy. I found mine from an online store on Shopee and got 6 pieces of liners plus a free wet bag for around RM19 (which I find really affordable). If you're a bit skeptical, you can always purchase yours from physical zero waste stores available to you. If you're living in Selangor, you can find them at Nude Zero Waste Store (they have a lot of cool stuff available there!). Another thing is that it's really comfortable to use. It may feel a bit weird at first but you get used to it pretty quickly. Similar to disposable ones, you should change them every 4-5 hours or so for hygiene purposes. So, you should definitely get more than 6 if you're using these every single day. I only bought 6 at first to test them out, so I'll definitely be getting more.
When it comes to cleaning them, it's really simple. You can either throw them in the washing machine or wash them by hand. I prefer washing them manually because stains can be removed easier (I feel). So what I do is soak them in detergent for maybe an hour then scrub them, rinse and dry (pretty simple am I right?). I still do keep extra disposable panty liners on hand in case of emergencies but I do notice how much less I spend on liners now that I have these and it honestly saves me so much money albeit having to put in a little more effort. I really hope to one day transition completely to reusable sanitary pads but I will do that slowly because I'm still not too comfortable with it because of the blood. But yea, I hope this was kinda informational and helpful and I really hope that more people will realize how much of a difference this could make and how much waste can be reduced by making these small changes.
Okay then, that's all for this post! Hope everyone is having an amazing holiday and Merry soon-to-be Christmas :)
