History has definitely been made during these 2 days here in Malaysia. For all yall that live under a rock or are from another country, Here's what's been happening.

Basically, Malaysia (which is it's own country, not part of Singapore or China... Guys really learn some Geography)has been governed by the same political party for 60 years since independence in 1957 (so much for "democracy") until today when the opposition finally won. It's such a huge deal because it is really time for a change, a breath of fresh air. This isn't going to be a hate post on the previous government (even though they weren't the brightest of homosapiens)but the country is at it's lowest because of them...mainly 1 of them but let's not get into that okay. Everyone is sick and tired of the old, corrupt ways. In all honesty, politics is dirty, cunning and full of propaganda but sometimes too much is too much! No one can say that the new government will be corruption free because we don't know what goes on behind their office doors but at least we know that the country has hit rock bottom and the only way to go is up. Things will start getting better and I strongly believe that this new government will live up to it's name(Google them because I don't want to name names here).

Being 21 and not being able to vote because God decided to release me from my Mother's womb in August kinda makes me sad because I didn't get to contribute towards this amazing victory. I'm glad I'll get to tell my children I lived through this but I can never say something like "Look kids, I helped!". I guess praying could be seen as a contribution but like it's not physical, you know what I mean? I didn't wait in line and get my finger inked. I wasn't in the midst of any of it. I really wish I was but at least we still won back our country.

I seem really patriotic huh? This wasn't always the case. Like I've said on Twitter, my whole life I've never associated myself with being Malaysian. I always dreamed of living a life out of my country and never coming back. There was no future for me here. Opportunities are limited and biased towards certain races, exchange rate is shit which means travelling takes 5X the saving unless you're balling, jobs aren't as satisfying because of the lack of proper incentives....You can kinda see where I'm going with this. I still have abit of that mindset but not really anymore. I still plan to leave Malaysia and pursue my dreams but I wouldn't be so reluctant to return as I would've been. I would even want to retire here on my little island of Penang (if I can afford it... gosh have you seen house prices lately?!).

But yea, all in all it was a great experience watching the election, waiting for results and seeing our new Prime Minister take his vows and right his wrongs. He has made pretty bad decisions in the past but he's changed and is such a delight to watch. Can't wait for him and his party to get Malaysia back on track and admired by the eyes of others. Malaysia Boleh! <3 *sings the Negaraku with pride*
